WHERE TO GO
NORTH OF PERTH
Ghost House Trail | Don’t let the name spook you
– the only ethereal beings you’ll see here are the
little Ghost House Trail symbols directing you along
the 12.4km loop. Check out Lake Wagardu, mature
tuart trees, wildflowers, limestone formations and
old ruins along the way.
Wanneroo Road, Yanchep National Park.
Bilya Walk Track | Bird lovers, rejoice! This 7.2km
trek will take you to The Bird Hide at Red Banks
Pool, which attracts many native feathered friends.
Don’t forget the binoculars!
Nardie Drive, Toodyay.

Bold Park | The original bold and
beautiful, Bold Park is bigger
than Kings Park, with more than
15km of trails on formed paths,
making it perfect for the novice
hiker wanting a day trip. Great
city and coastal views, bird life and
blooming flowers make it a scenic route
for those who want to get into nature
while still being close to home.
Oceanic Drive, City Beach.
SOUTH OF PERTH
Banksia Hill Loop Trail | Easy peasy lemonsqueezie!
This track takes less than an hour for those who
just want a casual stroll. Located at Canning River
Regional Park, the trail will take you through
thriving banksia woodland and back again.
Kent St Weir, Canning River Park.
Lesmurdie Falls | While only 2km, the steepness
of the track makes it challenging. The top of the
hike starts off from the Lesmurdie Falls Car Park
with a short walk to the viewing platform. On
a perfect day, the flat coastal plain permits
sweeping views over Perth City, and, if it has
rained, the falls tumble over the Darling Ranges.
Lesmurdie, Perth Hills.
Bickley Bay | This 9.4km walk on Rotto boasts
impressive ocean views, many a wildflower,
Aboriginal and Heritage-listed sites, plus
interpretive signage telling the underlying tales
of the island’s past, present and future.
Rottnest Island Fuel Jetty, Rottnest Island.
Erskine Nature Trail | An abundance of flora and
fauna sets the scene of this 6km track that skirts
the Peel Inlet. It’s a great spot for birdwatching,
as well as boasting fantastic scenery. Takes one
to three hours to complete.
Glandart Court, Mandurah.
AUTUMN IS FOR HIKING. NOT ONLY
WILL THERE BE LESS CHANCE OF
A HEATWAVE (GOOD ONE, PERTH),
THERE’S ALSO A HIGHER POSSIBILITY
THAT THE WATERFALLS AND RIVERS
WILL BE FLOWING. PLUS, THE WILDLIFE
IS JUST SO PRETTY.
• Water, and lots of it!
• Easy-to-consume and high-in-
protein snacks, like trail mix,
nuts and dried fruit.
• A first-aid kit containing (at the very
least) bandages, antiseptic, tape,
sunscreen and painkillers.
• Navigation aids. If the trek you go on
doesn’t have pointers guiding you in
the right direction, don’t rely on your
instincts to get you through – pack
a compass and a map.
• Suitable footwear and clothing.
Protect your skin from sun and
potential cuts or falls.
• And don’t forget you’ll want to put
everything in a backpack... obviously.
