Home' Scoop : Scoop 50 Summer 2009 Contents Summer's here at last; time to enjoy your annual dose
of sand, surf, sunburn and, as luck would have it, it just
so happens to be the perfect weather for cocktails.
Whether you enjoy the occasional drink to cap off
a long day at the office, or if you're the type who only
needs half an excuse, what better way to celebrate
the arrival of the warmer months than with a refresh-
ing tipple from one of Perth's finest mixologists?
Shannon Sanderson is the chief cocktail maestro
at 1907. Although a relative newcomer, 1907 has
been busy earning a reputation as a top spot for any
sophisticated soiree and was named a finalist in the
2008 Australian Bar Awards.
Shannon's latest summer creation is the South
Side Vince Vega; a tasty burst of lime, mint, apple, dry
gin and 1907's very own mint and elderflower sorbet.
"Perfect for a summer's day," says Shannon. I'll
drink to that! ~ Jake Millar

If you're a fan of the rich smooth taste of Baileys
Original then indulge yourself and try something
different with the exciting new Baileys blend.
Baileys with a Hint of Coffee is a mix of natu-
ral ingredients with real Robusta and Arabica
coffee. The blend still has the classic Irish Cream
taste but with a subtle coffee undertone. Pour
it over dessert for a decadent treat or simply
enjoy drinking it on ice with friends on a casual
summer's night. The 700ml bottle is available for
$34.99, visit baileys.com. ~ Clare Ryan
45ml South Gin
15ml Massenez Creme de Pomme Verte
30ml cloudy apple juice
1 large scoop mint/elderflower sorbet*
Muddle lime and sorbet, add other
ingredients, shake and pour into a highball
glass. Top with crushed ice and garnish with
a mint sprig.
*If you can't get hold of the sorbet, Shannon
recommends using six mint leaves combined
with 15ml elderflower syrup, which can be
found in most health food stores.
