Home' Scoop : Scoop 50 Summer 2009 Contents where the primped and proper go to play. It does a roaring Friday night trade
where you're best to get in before eight if you feel the need to sit, and Saturdays
aren't far behind. We recommend sitting yourself up in their alfresco on a Sunday
afternoon with a bottle of bubbles and a wood-fired pizza -- blissful.
61-71 Canning Beach Rd, Applecross, westvalley.com.au.
Like handcrafted, award-winning beer from Margaret River? Love The Royal,
which is the only place in Perth offering Colonial Brewing Co beers on tap -- the
superior, frothier way to consume beer, obviously.
On the boardwalk in East Perth, The Royal is ideal for those who like their drinks
and nosh relaxed and easy; just ask the crowds of people who gather there, want-
ing their slice of The Royal treatment. (Also, your puns can be as lame as you want
and nobody will judge). 60 Royal St, East Perth, theroyaleastperth.com.
Salt on the Beach
I might be slightly biased and sound a bit parochial, but to hell with it. Western
Australia's beaches are the best in the world. It's a bit of a mind boggler that
there aren't more bars about taking advantage (probably something to do with
pesky laws or something equally boring), but Salt on the Beach is one of the
places that have stepped up.
Right on Port Beach, you can coat your toes in the crisp white sand, and saun-
ter up the deck for a glass of crisp white and a wood-fired pizza; they'll even let
you wear your togs. They're open for breakfast if you're partial to a Bloody Mary
(or, you know, breakfast), and close late on the weekend.
