alongside supermarkets and Chinese restaurants,
attracting locals, the post-work crowd and cocktail
enthusiasts. But it's certainly worth the hike.

Fresh to the small bar scene, Clarence's Bar and
Restaurant has already wormed its way into our usu-
ally guarded hearts with a casual confidence you'd
expect from an established bar -- we couldn't help
but be immediately seduced by its charm.
Wooden interiors, a smattering of tables for
the bistro set and plenty of sitting room through
the back, pouring out onto an open deck for the
bar flies, making yourself comfy is easy -- there's no
elbow to elbow here.
With a bit of jazz, dim, candlelit tables and per-
sonable, friendly staff, it works for romantic drinks or
a chattering Saturday night with friends -- everything
a girl could hope for when opening her heart to a
DRINK From the cocktail menu -- a superb list of
their own concoctions named for New York boroughs
(and oh my, each province as delicious as the last).
EAT Shared plates of small bites, based on pub-
style favourites. Hop to the potted rabbit on toast if
you're that way inclined, or fall back on their excel-
lent fries if you're not a meat eater.

Long and pretty narrow, the bar runs along the
length of the premises, so there's plenty of elbow
room and space to perch, while the bar seating and
tables down the other side provide ample chatting
and nibbling room.
DRINK Hop up to the (very talented and charming)
bartenders and tell them what you feel like drinking,
and just like magicians who can read your mind and
know their Tanqueray from their Hendricks, they'll
assemble and deliver the perfect beverage.
EAT The nightly special. They offer a different meal
a day, so you know it's going to be fresh, tasty, and
possibly the most uncomplicated and excellent way
to eat, ever.
