If you haven't got to The Breakwater yet, their half-
price pizza might just be the perfect excuse. And, as
any scientist will tell you, a gourmet pizza achieves
ultimate flavour when enjoyed overlooking Hillarys
Boat Harbour in impeccable, glossy surrounds.

Haha guys, HUMP DAY. Because
t's the middle of the week
nd, like, sexual innuendo!
We're comedic geniuses. Yes.
WEDNESDAY is like your 15-year-
old nephew. It s an unfortunate, awkward time for all
involved, but you'll come out the other end a better
person less predisposed to obvious wordplay and
perform, entirely unscripted, for 20 minutes (the
improv equivalent of performing a triple bypass, if
only they had knives...). It's $10 through BOCS or
on the door at Lazy Susan's Comedy Den (upstairs
at the Brisbane Hotel). Doors open at 7. Corner
of Brisbane and Beaufort Streets, Highgate,

Belt it out
Whether you harbour secret Whitney Houston-style
ambitions, have an affinity for drinking heavily and
giving your friends something to talk about the next
day, or you just live to serenade, there's nothing like
a good night of karaoke to leave your soul fulfilled
and your throat aching.
Paddy Maguires offers Capri Karaoke on
Wednesdays: just rock up, choose your song(s) and
wait your turn -- and as they've got one of Perth's
longest karaoke lists, you're sure to find what you're
looking for. 328 Barker Rd, Subiaco (08) 9381 8400,
Ah, THURSDAY. Almost as
andsome as its highly sought-
fter brother, Friday, this little
guy signifies the downhill slide
o fabulous freedom -- so why
not start celebrations a little early? It wouldn't kill
you to be ahead of deadline for once...
The folks at Llama Bar have already heard your
thirsty pleas, releasing Run Rabbit Run as their re-
sponse to a need for a sophisticated midweek night
A natural antidote to your colleagues' hump-centric
musings is, of course, comedy performed on stage
by those who have a better-than-vague idea of
what is actually funny. There are plenty of laughs
to be had all week (see page 36 for more on our
burgeoning comedy scene), but Wednesday dishes
up a few tasty pieces of comic relief.
For good old stand-up, try The Laugh Resort
at The Brass Monkey. Running since 1991, it has
a great selection of Perth's funniest on board and
has helped launch talents like Claire Hooper and
Dave Hughes. It's $12 for adults unless otherwise
indicated, and usually includes an open-mic bracket
at the end. Doors open at 8pm. Corner James and
William streets, Northbridge. laughresort.com.au
On the other end of the comedy spectrum is
Free Love Impro, an adrenaline rush of improvised
comedy attempted by teams of comedians unafraid
to put their puny lives on the line for your amusement.
Essentially, teams are drawn from a hat, thrown a
suggestion from the audience and then proceed to
