Tru e a air
The mercury may have dropped but the thought
of new season truffles never fails to fill foodies with
the warm fuzzies. This year s must-do dates for
truffle lovers are the weekends of May 29-30 for the
Season Opening Truffle Affaire ($245 per person,
wineandtruffle.com.au) at the Wine and Truffle
Co. in Manjimup and July 31-August 1 when
Mundaring s Truffle Festival ($10 entry fee at the
gate, mundaringtrufflefestival.com) will again draw
gourmands to the picturesque Perth Hills.
Il Giro D'Italia
Maurizio s annual romp through Italy is on again.
Those who ve experienced former legs of Il Giro
D Italia know what to expect: regional specialties
based on in-season produce, outstanding Italian
wine, tableside serenading and Maurizio di Ciano s
legendary hospitality. Best of all: no pesky Icelandic
volcanos to ruin dining plans. A different region
gets visited each fortnight with tickets costing $99
per person ($120 for the grand finale dinner dance

Silver Spoon dining
When it first opened, Scoop wished out loud
that Vic Park s Silver Spoon would start hosting
degustations so we could taste the full breadth
of chef Michael Illari s talent. Not only did they
oblige, they ve gone one further and released a
calendar of Tuesday night dinners partnering chef s
cooking alongside some stellar wine -- specifically
Yalumba (June 22), Howard Park (July 27) and
Vasse Felix (August 31). Call the guys and gals for
pricing for specific dinners and we ll see you there.

York Gourmet Food and
Yabbies and olives and wines -- oh my! These are
just a few of the products available to taste at the
York Gourmet Food and Wine Festival. With
cooking demonstrations and fresh produce, this
is an event not to be missed for those interested

Seafood and Shiraz Festival
Broaden your mind and your palate at this festival,
which makes friends of two traditional culinary
enemies: red wine and seafood. The unlikely pairing
is promised to be tasty, with some of the state s

Sittella's Gala Reserve Dinner
A retrospective of Sitella s reserve wines over
the past 10 years presents a glorious occasion to
celebrate with a glass of Sittella Sparkling and
live music. A degustation dinner will feature food
created by Executive Chef Mike Price and
wines carefully handcrafted by chief winemaker

PIZZA PERFECTION | Little Caesars pizza king Theo Kalogeracos has been
impressing devotees of his Little Caesars pizzerias in Leederville and Mundaring for
years but these days he is winning fans from all over the world. Theo was o cially
named best pizza-maker in the world at the pizza championships held in Los Angeles
in March. Luckily for us, he reportedly refused o ers to set up shop in New York.
