In with the Neuw | I’m not usually big on jeans that look like they’ve spent a day in a cattery,
but these freshly butchered denims from Neuw have snagged a little affection. Released in Australia
earlier this year, the Melbourne-based label takes its cues from the bruised and battered jeans of
yesteryear, breathing new life into old-school threads through a process of recycling and revision.
As you’d expect, the ensuing look is edgy and rock ‘n’ roll, but the detailing’s neat and the cuts are
modern, so what you’ve got is a pair of quality slacks with a few odd slashes for interest. If wounded
denims aren’t your cup of tea though, Neuw also does a line of less tampered-looking pants, plus
jackets, shirts and jumpers that are all in keeping with its trademark ’tude. Keep an eye out for them
at Subway DC, 36 King Street, Perth, or Cube, 338 Hay Street, Subiaco.
Since its first steps in 1916, the spritely Keds shoe
has covered plenty of ground – probably as much
as Tony Abbott’s bike (not that we’re complaining).
Reliable and always evolving, it’s kind of like that
Oasis tape you just can’t bear to part with, even
though you g ot the CD and downloaded it on to
iTunes. Well, now there’s another pair to add to
the collection: the Champion Chukka desert boot.
It takes the casual canvas sneaker, lifts it ankle
high and coats it in either a dressy black or military
green – both with a waxy finish. Get yourself a pair
at Ginger’s for Gentlemen, 317 Mur ray Street, Perth.
Cloaked in Burberry
With climate change shaking up our seasons, it’s
always safe to have a coat on hand. Burberry’s
latest collection is all about the outerwear. Double-
collared pea jackets, wool-lined military numbers
and even leather shearlings: this spring, the classic
British label has brought out the big guns. Given
its history of dressing officers on the frontline, it’s
no surprise that these coats are as durable as they
are becoming. Visit Burber r y’s Wesley Quarter stor e on
39 William Street, Perth or go to burber r y.com .
Warm days, cool nights, hot choices – flex your
style muscle as you blaze a fashion trail this spring
