Mark your diary Flavours of
Chittering | September 12
Treat your nose, tastebuds and tummies at the
Flavours of Chittering food and wine festival.
The brainchild of Julie and Nelson Mews (she
of The Food Lovers’ Guide to Perth), the day’s
attractions revolve around 'The Hub' at Lower
Chittering Village Green and Hall in Chittering
Valley Road (open from 10am). There will be
a grower's market, wine tastings and cooking
demonstrations from Anne Maree Hagge
(Bindoon Bakehaus), Emmanuel Mollois (Choux
Cafe) Peter Kenyon (The Cooking Professor)
and Kate Meinck (Chittering Valley Retreat).
Michael Forde of Cantina 663 will prepare a
long table lunch at Western Range wines, while
Peace Be Still retreat is offering guided bush
walks – perhaps pre-order a picnic hamper from
Sorelle Deli and pick it up at The Hub before
you go. Check it out, buy your tickets and plan
your day at flavoursofchittering.com.au .
Bindoon Bakehaus has moved into its beautiful
new premises (still easily found on Great Northern
Highway), and those who appreciate fine design
as well as good food must make the trip. Making
everything from scratch, Leanne and Anne Maree
turn out extraordinary breads and cakes, and serve
fine Five Senses coffee as well. But it’s the pies for us,
filled with local lamb and rosemary, veal, kangaroo
burgundy or a delicious new fish mixture. 168 Great
Northern Highway, Bindoon (08) 9576 0069.
