1EXPRESS GRATITUDE Before moving forward
take a moment to... be grateful for everything you
have and the lessons your past has ‘gifted’ you.
“The past holds many memories and ‘magic’ to help
you unlock the keys to your future and if you don’t take
the time to reflect and be grateful for the journey, you’ll
always be searching for the keys,” Katie says.
2IMAGINE Let your imagination go crazy for a
moment and play with ideas. Imagine there are
no boundaries of time, space, money, people
and places. Now, what is it you really want?
3CLARIFY Clarify your three greatest desires
for 2011. They’re your goals. Write them down
– include what you’re going to achieve and
by when. Now give them meaning and emotion by
asking yourself these questions. Why do I really want
this? What would it feel like if I didn’t achieve this?
Who would I be disappointing if I didn’t achieve this?
What would I be missing out on if I didn’t achieve this?
What does it feel like to have achieved this? What am I
prepared to do to get it?
4CREATE Create an action plan for each goal by
identifying three different areas you can work on
and for each area identify five actions you can
complete (1:3:5). For example:
• Goal: drop to a size 10 dress size by 01/06/11
• Areas: nutrition, fitness, positive mental health
• Actions – nutrition: take lunch to work; have smaller
dinners; eat two pieces of fruit a day; have only one cup
of coffee a day; eat chocolate only twice a week
• Actions – fitness: get a personal trainer for seven
weeks; make exercise a priority by marking it in the
diary; exercise four times per week; take the stairs at
work; walk short distances rather than driving
• Actions – positive mental health: constructive self talk;
imagine I’m already a size 10; focus on things that are
working in my life; be grateful; smile more.
5SUPPORT Make it easy to achieve your goals
by getting support. Very few people ‘get to the
top’ without someone’s support. Enlist a friend,
colleague or coach to keep you honest and motivated.
