With its magnificent views and a capacity of 5000 people, the new Red Hill
Auditorium is one of the country’s most exciting outdoor venues
KING OF THE HILL
The twinkling city lights and neighbouring John
Forrest National Park provide an awe-inspiring
backdrop at Red Hill Auditorium, perched high
on the Darling Scarp above the Perth plains. This
new venue is the brainchild of Marcus Sarich, who
purchased the 10ha property with grand plans
way back in 1999. After 12 long years and metres
of g overnment red tape he has finally created
his dream with the new venue, just 24km from
the centre of Perth.
Business development and program
manager Sarcha Thurston said her boss had
shown a great deal of determination getting the
project from start to finish.
“It was his labour of love that created an
amazing built venue right in the middle of a
natural setting,” says Sarcha. “From now we plan
to grow the venue to ensure it becomes iconic
throughout Australia. In turn this will attract
artists to Western Australia that may not have
travelled here otherwise.”
Red Hill will officially open to the public with
the stylings of music legends Paul Kelly and Neil
Finn on Anzac Day. The auditorium’s fully tiered
circular design offers all who attend the concert
fantastic sight lines to the stage.
The venue has also started a free Sunday
film season that will run until April 10. “This
will ensure Red Hill stays relevant to the local
community because they can enjoy the venue at
no cost,” she says. The auditorium is accessible
from 14 local pubs with a shuttle ser vice that runs
directly to and from the venue.
