Chart-topping singer Chris Brown
will have you krumping in your seat

May 3, Burswood Dome,
What influenced the choir’s latest
album, African Grace?
The choir selected songs that while not
necessarily all religious, are ones that express
beauty, grace and the human spirit... This
repertoire has given us the opportunity to stretch
our talents from not only singing traditional and
gospel, but also more contemporary pop songs,
some classical and even opera.
In 2003, the choir founded its own AIDS
orphans foundation, Nkosi’s Haven Vukani.
Why is this an important cause for the choir?
Giving back to those less fortunate than
ourselves is extremely important. The choir
has been truly blessed with being able to
travel and show our talent to so many
different people, to represent South Africa,
and at the same time, to be able to support
ourselves and our families by doing something
we love. So many others in South Africa
aren’t as fortunate, it is essential that we give
back to our communities. The AIDS pandemic
is such a terrible situation in our country,
if there is any way we can help those in
need, we will do so.
Tell us about one of your most
memorable concert experiences.
Some of our most memorable concert
experiences have been our performances for
Nelson Mandela’s 46664 campaign, also as a
means of helping those affected by HIV and
AIDS. As ambassadors for 46664, we have
performed at concerts in Cape Town, London
and New York, with many of the top artists in
the world, such as Bono, Josh Groban, Stevie
Wonder and Aretha Franklin.
What’s the best part of performing live?
Being able to interact with our audience, to
watch them feeding off our energy, to see their
emotions during a particular song, and to take in
their reactions to our joy of singing... Although
they might not understand the language, they
understand the beauty of our music. Various
venues, May 11, 12, 14. Visit www.bocsticketing.com .au.
