salad, and millet pilaf with roasted vegetables and
coriander-hazelnut pesto, anyone? Hardly your
standard vego fare, but then award-winning chef
Kate Meinck isn’t your standard vego cook. Kate
runs regular cooking classes and health retreats
and offers accommodation (and wonderful meals)
to small groups and corporate clients. 21 Chittering

MARGARET RIVER TEMPEH
AT JUS BURGERS
It’s not just meat that Justin Bell’s eponymous 100
per cent WA burger franchise does swimmingly.
The marinated chickpea/sunflower tempeh vego
burger is made from a special unpasteurised
chickpea and sunflower tempeh made for him by
artisan producer Amita Buissink of Margaret River
Tempeh. It’s a beautiful thing. mrtempeh.com.au.

ANNALAKSHMI ON SWAN
A riverside dining room with a pay-what-you-feel
ethos and unrivalled views over the Swan River
sounds too good to be true, but dare to believe.
The food at this volunteer-run Indian vego diner
is cooked to Ayurvedic principles and the half-a-
dozen savoury dishes, bread plus an Indian sweet
are offered buffet-style. Alcohol is not permitted
but they do a mean fruit punch. Jetty No 4, Barrack
Street, Perth (08) 9221 3003 annalakshmi.com.au .
